Boiron USA is a leading homeopathic medicine supplier, and the maker of Oscillococcinum®,
the number one pharmacist-recommended homeopathic flu medicine. We partner with
brokers, distributors and retail chains to make high-quality homeopathic products
available to both physicians and consumers.
Our staff of more than 90 professionals—including physicians, pharmacists, lab technicians,
accounting, IT and marketing personnel, a national sales force, and customer service,
order fulfillment and shipping teams—fulfills up to 1,000 orders per day during
the busy flu season.
Our Mission
"To stimulate the evolution of healthcare by promoting scientific homeopathy as
a more compassionate, more ecological and more comprehensive approach to medicine,
and to allow every physician to know homeopathy and integrate it into their daily
practice."
Our History
Boiron was founded in 1932 when pharmacists and twin brothers, Henri and Jean Boiron,
accepted the proposal of colleague René Baudry to establish a homeopathic laboratory
in Paris and a homeopathic pharmacy in Lyon, France. The Boiron brothers spent their
lifetime establishing a range of homeopathic formulas and engaging in extensive
homeopathic medicine research, including the development of production processes
(such as triple impregnation) that are still used today.
In 1979, almost 50 years after its founding, Boiron went international with the
opening of a branch in Milan, Italy. A few years later in 1983, Boiron established
its U.S. presence with the acquisition of John A. Borneman & Sons, a Philadelphia-based,
family-run homeopathic business. Borneman & Sons brought with it four generations
of homeopathic expertise and a focus on supplying medicines directly to physicians
and the public. The newly-formed company adopted the name Boiron Borneman, Inc.,
which remains the company’s formal, legal name.
Boiron USA initially employed a staff of seven who did everything from harvesting
homeopathic ingredients to manufacturing remedies to fulfilling orders. They shipped
an average of 25 orders per day and continued to champion the company’s goal of
serving retail and pharmacy channels across the U.S.
Throughout the 1980s, the company expanded its retail distribution and in 1989,
in response to significant interest in homeopathy in California, established a Simi
Valley branch located just outside Los Angeles.
Ten years after the acquisition of Borneman & Sons, Boiron relocated its offices
to Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, the location that continues to serve as Boiron
USA’s headquarters and the manufacturing and distribution branch for the East Coast.
The East Coast facility includes laboratory facilities, warehousing and order fulfillment
centers and automated shipping operations.
In June 2005, Boiron expanded laboratory and warehouse operations with the opening
of its West Coast branch. The new 20,500 square-foot building includes a high-tech
manufacturing laboratory, warehouse capabilities designed to meet future demands,
and a 50-person conference room designed to facilitate homeopathic education and
outreach to the medical community.

Our Commitment
As the world leader in homeopathy, Boiron is committed to providing high-quality,
effective medical therapeutics. We’re equally committed to reinforcing the quality
of teaching and continuing medical training, as well as fostering communication
within the world of medicine.
Commitment to the Environment
As an organization, Boiron possesses a strong sense of obligation to, and respect
for, preserving the environment. That’s why the preparation of our homeopathic medicines
has minimal impact on the environment. The main environmental effects come from
extracting raw materials (continuity of species gathered), water pollution (mostly
organic and biodegradable) and some waste. We promote re-supplying wild and organically
farmed plants when possible to improve the quality of raw materials used.
We also work with 120 botanist-harvesters. These specialists are experts in employing
environmentally responsible harvesting strategies, including harvesting plants from
their natural surroundings. The plants are then used fresh and wild in accordance
with the balance of nature and the specifications of the principal pharmacopoeia.
Commitment to Our Employees
It's Boiron’s deep conviction that the key to the performance and the growth of
the company depends on the creativity and motivation of our employees. To promote
personal and professional growth, we pioneered a new approach to employee relations
more than 20 years ago—one that fosters dialogue, self-confidence, flexibility in
tasks and hours, and offers individualized work situations. In turn, our employees
have a vested interest in the company’s performance, thanks to our employee profit-sharing
program. In addition, our employees enjoy a 401K program, stress-reducing, in-office
massages, and company-sponsored events that bring family and friends together.
Awards & Recognition
As a world-leading homeopathic manufacturer, we strive to further the understanding
of scientific homeopathy, so naturally we're proud to be recognized for our leadership
in the field.
